DRIVER CRASHES INTO HOUSE ON CLARK
Elyria – Police arrested 24 year old Dominique Milton of Elyria early Friday morning after he crashed into a house in the 900 block of Clark Street.
Elyria Police Officer Jim Sword was on his way to a disturbance call on South Abbe when he spotted a car on Clark Street traveling at a high rate of speed and blowing through stop signs. Sword alerted his Dispatcher that he would have to make a traffic stop on the vehicle before going to the other call. Once he turned on his lights the car sped up even more and when the driver, Milton, attempted to make a left turn onto Boston Ave he went up over the curb, got airborne and struck the house at 904 Clark Street.
Sword approached the car and after calling for an ambulance and the Fire Department he tried to get the occupants out as the car was smoking heavily. With the doors locked and the driver unable to unlock it Sword told the driver to cover his face and then broke out the window.
According to the report Milton quickly became violent with Officers calling them motherfuckers and bitches. Milton was told he was under arrest and continued to resist Officers by pushing and pulling at them. Officers then had to pepper spray Milton to bring him under control. Once Milton was cuffed he was taken to the Police station where he submitted to a breathalyzer test blowing .183%.
Milton’s passenger who was complaining of pains in her leg was treated on scene by LifeCare Paramedics and then transported to Elyria Memorial Hospital.
Milton was charged with OVI, BAC, Resisting Arrest, DUS and Reckless Operation.
Officer Sword was also injured while attempting to bring Milton under control.

Farewell Art!
We were saddened to learn of the death today of Art Weber at the age of 76.
Weber will be best known for his lifelong involvement in politics and community service work in Elyria. We will remember him as the man who made sure American Flags lined the Memorial Day Parade route.
In a 2009 article on TMC NEWS Weber talked about the Flags. “I have been doing this since 1990, that’s at least as far back as I can remember – it might be longer but I remember the paper doing a story in 1990 about this,” said Weber. “Each year I will go through the Cemetery and pick up the Flags after Memorial Day and store them in my garage – each year new Flags are placed on the graves of Veterans. I save them until the following Memorial Day and place them through the park and whatever is left over we’ll pass them out to the kids during the parade.”
Weber said that he has also used the Flags to line streets in recent times when local fallen Soldiers were returned home. “I do this for them, I do it for the Soldiers – I do it for the Veterans, because it’s the right thing to do.”
In Honor of all that Art Weber did for our community I will be flying an American Flag for him – “because it’s the right thing to do.”
