POLE COMES CRASHING DOWN

Elyria – A strange early morning crash sent one woman to the hospital after a light pole crashed onto the car she was riding in.

Witnesses say that a woman driving a Ford Explorer north on Lorain Blvd near Lake Ave went off the right side of the road and brushed a light pole at the northeast corner. As the Explorer continued north the pole started giving way and came down on a LifeCare Transportation Ford Focus that was behind the Explorer.

The pole struck the passenger side door of the Focus shattering the window and damaging the frame of the door. Glass covered the woman who was riding in the passenger side of the Focus and she was shaken up but did not appear to be injured. As a precaution she was treated and transported by a LifeCare Ambulance. The driver of the Focus refused any treatment or transport at the scene.

The driver of the Explorer was not injured in the crash but was visibly shaken at the scene.

The Elyria Police Department is investigating the crash.
