CHRISTMAS CRASH INJURES 2

Sheffield Village – Two people were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after a collision at Abbe Road and Colorado Ave in Sheffield Village.

Roman Santos of Lorain was heading home as he approached the intersection of Abbe & Colorado. “I was on Colorado in the right turn lane to go north on Abbe and she (driver of the black Chevy) was in the lane next to me. She completely ignored the blinking red light and went through the intersection and that’s when the silver SUV that was going north on Abbe t-boned her in the middle of the intersection.”

Santos said the Chevy spun around and crashed into a light pole at the northwest corner of the intersection. “We pulled over and got out to see if we could help. We saw that people were going to the SUV so we headed for the Chevy.”

When Santos and his friend reached the car they found a portion of the utility pole lying against the passenger side door. “The lady inside was injured and said she was really scared to stay inside the car so we moved the pole and helped her get out.”

Sheffield Lake and Avon Fire Departments assisted Sheffield Village Firefighters in treating and transporting both drivers.

Sheffield Village Police are investigating the crash.

I am the owner of the Ford Escape and was a passenger in the vehicle. My wife remains hospitalized in EMH but looks to be released today (12/28). I don't know the condition of the other driver, but I thank God we all survived.
