The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a HIGH WIND WARNING for Lorain County. The WARNING will be in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday evening through 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

Strong winds will develop late this afternoon as a cold front approaches the region. The cold front will sweep through Ohio this evening and into Pennsylvania early Thursday morning.

Sustained winds between 30 and 40 MPH with occasional GUSTS to 60 MPH or greater will be possible through early Thursday morning across the entire area. Winds will taper off across Northwest Ohio around daybreak Thursday but will likely linger until midmorning across Eastern Ohio.

A HIGH WIND WARNING is issued when sustained winds of 40 MPH or greater are expected to last at least an hour – with gusts of 58 MPH or greater at any time. Damage to trees, power lines, and property are possible with winds of this magnitude. If you have a high profile vehicle you are urged to be extra careful until the winds subside.

A FLOOD WARNING continues for the Black River at Elyria and the Huron River near Milan.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 58. Breezy, with a south wind around 24 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Rain showers before 3am, then rain and snow showers likely. Low around 36. Windy, with a west wind 23 to 26 mph increasing to between 31 and 34 mph. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Thursday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Windy, with a west wind between 24 and 29 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
