WEATHER ALERT
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a FLOOD WARNING for the Black River at Elyria until late Tuesday night.
Water levels remain high along the Black River in response to the recent snowmelt. Ice Jam Flooding has subsided along the river, however water levels are expected to remain above Flood Stage through Tuesday morning. Additional rises are possible later this week as a storm system moves through the Ohio Valley.
At 1 p.m. Monday the stage was 10.4 feet and slowly rising. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecasted. Flood stage is at 9.5 feet. The river will fluctuate around 10.5 feet through this evening and begin a slow fall Tuesday morning. Additional rises may be possible later this week.
NEVER drive your car through flooded roadways as the water may be deeper than it appears. Remember: Turn Around – Don’t Drown!
