THE FACE OF EVIL
Elyria – Elyria Police have released the name of the suspect in the robbery – homicide at GAS USA early Saturday morning.
Police have charged 27-year-old Vincent W. Jackson of Chicago Illinois today with Aggravated Murder (F-1) and Aggravated Robbery (F-1). Jackson is currently being held in the Elyria City Jail and will appear in Elyria Municipal Court Monday morning for his arraignment. Jackson is being held without bond.
Police say that Jackson was seen on surveillance video instructing the victim, 27-year-old Qiana Walton of Lorain, to take him to and give him the money from the store. The video shows that it appears Walton followed all of Jackson’s instructions – giving him an undisclosed amount of money from the business. It was then that Jackson pointed his gun at Walton and shot her once in the head – killing her. Jackson then fled the scene on foot.
At 7:30 Sunday morning Police located Jackson at the home of his sister at 1020 West Ave. Jackson remained in the attic of the home for nearly four hours with a four-year-old child and four month old child. The children belonged to the suspect’s sister. After lengthy negotiations with Elyria Police Jackson released the four year old first and then turned himself in – Police returned both children to the mother unharmed.
Police believe they have retrieved the firearm used in the crime. Police also say there is no indication that the suspect and victim knew each other.
Family and friends are planning a candlelight vigil for Qiana Walton at the GAS USA in Elyria located at 824 Middle Ave.

Bring him to the candlelight vigil and let Qiana's friends and family take care of him.
That is exactly what fuels the problems in that area , the basic thug mentality. Dont take them to justice , handle it like thugs ....... and then people wonder why it is the way it is . glamorise the brutality teach the youth that this is the way to handle crime?
anyone who willing puts them self in that atmosphere is well aware of what goes on there and must condone it, or they wouldnt stay in the atmosphere!
It's stories like these that make me wonder why people think the death penalty is un constitutional. Its worthless pieces of shit like this that make the death penalty needed. The only problem is he is afforded the luxury of living for years enjoying life in prison with hot meals and cable television before he meets his end. If this guy is on video why are we even bothering with a trial. Fry his ass tomorrow.
I'd like to attend the vigil. I'm just hoping the accused isn't there, so I don't get shot...
I didn't know Qiana, but my heart goes out to her family. I live in this community and it absolutely SCARES me that these kind of things happen to a woman trying to make a living. Absolute BS.
I'm sick of this. We need to take our community back. Let the people who have been accused, the people who would be accused, and the poeple who potentially could be accused, know that we're not going to stand for this. We, as a community, need to stand up for ourselves, and make sure these kind of things STOP happening at such an alarming rate.
We need to stick together as a community and support Qiana and her family. This should not have happened.
I half want to close myself in my house and not go outside because of these kind of things. You know, turn a blind eye and mind my own business. I think that we have become so "politically correct" that we've become desensitized to these kind of things.
Still, this is absolute BS.
So that's why I'm going to say this, and it's not PC...
We need to, as a community, show our support for this poor, DEAD, woman. We need to let the accused, could be accused, and potentially could be accused, know that we are NOT going to tolerate this, and we need to make sure this BS stops.
(See, we've become so PC that I was afraid to call her dead. She's dead. Her family knows it, and certainly FEELS it. I think the impact of actually SAYING it is the result of PC. I think some poeple have become numb from trying to be so PC... Not that being un-PC is correct, but we have to give some where...)
Please support this DEAD woman and her family. As a community. People who read this, please show up, in support of her and her family, in support of not tolerating this, and a support of your community.
K, I'll get off my high horse now.
But it's still BS. (Hey, at least I kept it kinda PC: I didn't really cuss..)
Why would any business allow a woman to close their establishment, that late at night, without any security. I blame the gas station for allowing her to be in this situation in the first place. They are more interested in money instead of providing a safe place of employment.
Don't waist the courts time on this worthless mother fucking piece of shit( Sorry TMC there is no other way to discribe this asshole). And if he gets the death penalty, and I'm sure he will, they should have a public hanging to show the rest of the pieces of shit in all communities that we have had it. Or even better bring back the guillotine. Quick to the point and painless except for the mental pain knowing what's about to happen. Haas
Hey go easy. This guy has rights. He is INNOCENT until proven guilty.
We live in America, we just dont go out and hang the accused without a fair trial.
GAS USA should be ashamed of themselves for allowing a female to close that store. And also shame on female for allowing that to happen.
Give the accused a break.
Silverdud is 100% absolutely right on the money. The guy is on video pointing a gun at her head and pulling the trigger. Have the trial tomorrow and fry him the next day. END OF STORY!!!!!!!!!
anonymous who said it is the gas stations fault you are absolutely 100% WRONG! Granted they should not have ANYONE, man or woman closing alone.
ALWAYS!!! ALWAYS!! ALWAYS!! Blame the criminal. HE committed the crime and HE pulled that trigger. you sound like a lawyer or something. Remember people HE broke the law not the gas station owner.HE pulled that trigger.
If this guy lives more than a year blame our courts.
they should just hang this SOB. someone should film it and put it on youtube..
i feel bad for the family of the person who got murdered but not for him or his family. he just looks like a low life POS.
I am not trying to be funny but am being serious. A candlelight vigil at a gas station? No open flames near the pumps, plus this was the station that just had a gas leak. I am thinking of the safety factor here, I hope they plan to stay on the perimeter of the station.
Also the employees are at the station cleaning the exterior grounds today, apparently for tonights vigil. But they never keep it clean any other time. I know, I live a block away.
What's with all the "female" crap? The scumbag had a gun. I don't care who was in that store working (which is crazy anyway), the individual would have been killed. I don't care what gender they are. You're talking about the center of crackhead universe. While they were bulldozing for land for the new school, they should have just kept going.
I take offense at being told I live in the "center of crackhead universe". You really do not know what you are talking about. I am so tired of this stupid stereotype that the south side has and you are just perpetuating it. It really is a nice place to live and has improved greatly in the last few years thanks to the police and the block watch. The large majority of the residents here are good people.
If she gave him the money why did he have to kill her. My thoughts and prayers go out to this woman's family and friends.

You are right that it could have been a man or a woman working but I still blame the gas station as well as the shooter. Every place of employment has a responsibility to provide a safe work place for their employees. Why do establishments have to be open so late and why wasn't there more security. We all know there are thugs, druggies, and other criminals taking control of our streets no matter what city you live in so we have to do whatever is necessary to keep ourselves safe. That means providing security if you have a business that stays open late and is located in a questionnable neighborhood. Otherwise its like leaving your doors unlocked and saying it wasn't my fault it was the criminals.
If there would have been more than one person there there would be more than one inocent murders. This piece of shit had no reason to shoot her. And forget that old saying inocent untill proven guilty. These days you are innocent till proven guilty then when you are found guilty you are still innocent untill the scum defence attornies are done sucking money out of you and the system. It's called the appeal system. That's why people sit on death row so many years. If there is a video tape of him clearly pulling the trigger then fry his worthless ass. Haas
Haas has it right - let's be done with that piece of garbage once and for all.
As for the poster who says we should give the accused a break - ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING?? One thing I can agree with is that EPD should put together an airtight case (with video tape that should be pretty easy) and do what is necessary to get a guilty plea or verdict.
At that point it is time to "get the rope..."
Let’s just hope this guy doesn’t’ go in front of Judge Burge, because if he gets the death penalty Burge would try to change his sentenced to life.
Blame whoever makes you feel good about yourself. Fact of the matter is. He shot her, it's on tape. Build the gallows smack ass in the middle of down town, let's hang this bastard in front of his friends, family and fellow scum bags TOMORROW. It's time the people who actually pay taxes(something tells me he didnt pay taxes on the money he STOLE) to the city of Elyria take it back.
How sad for this woman's family to have her go work only to have a worthless person take her life. All she was doing was trying to make an honest living and will now be forever missed by her family.
I don't think the ugly choice of words that are being used are really needed but only that this man wasn't a man but an animal. He was caught on tape and they did a great job of tracking him down before he had the chance of hurting anyone else. Let's just hope that the Elyria Police Department will get all their ducks in a row and this process is over fast for this victims family so they can move on with their lives as difficult as that will be.
How horrible to read about these things happening all over the country but now they are here in our backyards. I think as stated before until we unite and take back our neighborhoods these things will continue. God Bless the family of this young woman.
Im all for going to home depot and getting some wood to build the gallows. I think we should build it for two and include a spot for the person defending the scumbag killer. Innocent till proven guilty??? Are u kidding me. This guy is on tape performing one of the most heartless acts imagineable. i hope the prisoners that are with this guy are taking care of him if you know what i mean. At least that would be a start.
What the hell are you talking about giving him a break? I am sure she was begging for a break also. She was begging for her life. And this piece of shit still shot her. Are you related to that scum? You have to be in order to defend him. I know if he was related to me I wouldn't defend him. I wonder what kind of a record he has in Chicago.
I agree with Matt S. I think that murders need to die the same if not worse then the person the killed. Im sorry why should they have a better life in prison waiting to have a lethal injection. Thats my opinion like it or not.
For everyone that has something negative to say! Think about the victim. I went to school with Qiana. She was a sweet and loyal person. How dare someone say that the man is innocent until proven quilty. Let that happen to one of your loved ones. Its not fair to her family or friends. They have the man on video tape and you're saying that he could possibly be innocent. Read the paper people. It said she was a floater that floated to different gas stations and she just so happened to be at the wrong gas station at the wrong time. Its noone's fault but Vincent Jackson's. He's the one that took her life from her. Its so wrong! So think before you post unneccesary things up here!!!
Calling it an absolute senseless crime doesn't even begin to describe the murder of this poor woman. The guy had the money, what point was there in shooting an innocent person? Was he afraid of being identified or just did it for kicks. It obviously shows that he has no consideration whatsoever for the lives of others, so why should we have any consideration for his?? Let's hope "an eye for an eye" applies in this case so our tax dollars aren't wasted for years on giving this guy 3 free meals a day along with cable tv and free access to the county's law library (which, as taxpayers, we are not even entitled to). Give him he** judge, he deserves it!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? YOU SHOULD GO TO JAIL FOR SAYING SOMETHING SO STUPID!!!! HE WAS CAUGHT ON TAPE. HE IS GUILTY. HE TOOK A YOUNG GIRLS LIFE. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED HE GAVE UP HIS RIGHTS THE MINUTE HE PULLED THE TRIGGER.
AND ALSO TO EVERYONE WHO IS SOOO CONCERNED ABOUT THE GAS STATION LETTING A FEMALE WORK LATE AT NIGHT. GUESS WHAT THE GUY WOULD HAVE KILLED WHOEVER STOOD IN HIS PATH MALE FEMALE WHATEVER. SO INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT WHO WAS WORKING LETS FOCUS ON GETTING PEOPLE LIKE THIS OFF THE STREET SO THAT ANYONE CAN WORK ANY HOURS!!!
Must have been a Drug thing---it couldn't be anything else--if it wasn't her AT GAS USA it would have been someone else...Us normal people will never understand the thinking of these distorted people...they gotta go
TURN THE PAGE!
IT'S BAD ENOUGH WE HAVE OUR OWN HOME GROWN THUGS TO DEAL WITH...NOW THEY COME FROM OUT OF TOWN!!! WE NEED TO BRING IN THE NATIONAL GUARD AND HAVE THEM DE THUG LORAIN AND ELYRIA!!!
who ever said " give the accused a break" must be joking. I am embarassed to think that they are serious.
The man robbed her and after she gave him everything he asked for he took the time to line her up in the sights of his gun and literally blow her head off. Why not give EPD a break, since they are the ones who are out there risking their lives and coming face to face with people like that. I know that we live in America and everyone is innocent until prove guilty, but COME ON. This man should be put to death, life in prison should not even be an option.
As a friend of the family, we greatly appreciate your condolences. Qiana was a beautiful person who was simply trying to "make ends meet" by picking up this job.
For those of you who would like to help Qiana's surviving family, donations can be made to the Qiana Walton Memorial Fund at Lorain National Bank. Please contact the bank for additional information - 440-244-7185.
