GET YOUR MITTENS OUT

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK for Northern Ohio.

The NWS is forecasting widespread snow Saturday night through Sunday across northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania as another low-pressure system blows across the Ohio Valley.

Significant snow accumulations are expected but exact amounts are not known at this time as Officials continue to monitor the low-pressure systems track.

If you have travel plans this weekend you should continue to monitor the weather situation. The TMC NEWS Weather Team Plus will be monitoring the situation over the weekend and will provide alerts as they come in from the NWS.

Remember if you will be out traveling in a winter storm you should have an emergency kit with the following items:
A flashlight, flares and a first-aid kit
Jumper cables, a tool kit and tire chains
A blanket, warm clothes and gloves
A snowbrush, ice scraper and snow shovel
Extra washer fluid
Extra food and water

You might also want to schedule time with your local mechanic to make sure your vehicle is ready for the upcoming winter season.

UPDATE 3:24am: The National Weather Service out of Cleveland has upgraded this outlook to a WINTER STORM WATCH.

The NWS forecasts a strong area of low pressure will move out of Texas (Hook Em Horns) and up through the Ohio Valley Saturday afternoon.

As the low pressure moves north areas of snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet, will be possible across the lower great lakes region.

While there is still come uncertainty in the timing of the storm, snow amounts of 6 to 8 inches will be possible before the snow tapers off late Sunday night.
