PHILLIP STERN PLEADS GUILTY

Phillip K. Stern II plead guilty today in a Lorain County Courtroom on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle intoxicated and failure to comply.

Amherst Police pulled Stern over on September 16th last year after spotting him driving erratically on North Main Street. During the stop Stern was argumentative with the Officer saying he was just heading home and they had no right to pull him over. After Stern continually refused to exit the truck he was driving, or even to roll his window all t way down, a second Officer attempted to open his passenger side door with a lock jock, it was then that Stern sped away leading the Officers on a chase

The chase ended when Stern ran a red light eastbound on Cooper Foster Park Road at Leavitt, smashing into a southbound car driving by Sheila Pierce. Pierce died from her injuries.

Although Sterns attorney is on the record today as saying his client “takes full responsibility for his actions”, Stern had been requesting that all charges be dropped stating that the Amherst Police “tampered with the video” from the traffic stop an allegation that the Amherst Police vehemently deny. Stern dropped that absurd allegation today pleading guilty to the charges. Stern will be sentenced at a later date.

Sterns blood alcohol level that night was 0.238. Legal limit is 0.08.

I am glad that Mr. Stern admitted his responsibility in Ms. Pierce's death and I hope that the court sentences him appropriately.
I hope this brings closure and a sense of justice to her family. Patsy

Thank you for your kind words, Patsy...we, the family truly appreciate them...there is a sense of relief that there will not be a long drawn out trial, but I ask that you keep watching this case to see how he is sentenced...we will not be able to have the closure that we should until we see that he is sentenced according to his crimes...and hopefully when that day comes, we will feel that justice was served...
