BRUNSWICK NEIGHBORS SADDENED

AND SHOCKED BY FATAL CRASH
As Elyria Police Officers were investigating the fatal crash on Brunswick Drive late last night neighbors gathered on the front porch of 143 Brunswick in shock discussing what they had seen.

Alesha Taylor and Taalib Muntagim were inside of 143 Brunswick when they heard the crash outside of their home just before 11:30 Wednesday night. Taylor said that it is not unusual for cars to be traveling fast up and down the road but this was the worst they have ever seen. “Cars will fly up and down here a lot and usually if they hit something it will be these big rocks on the curb lawns or they will take out mailboxes but this is just horrible.”

Muntagim said that when they stepped out onto the porch they only saw the car across the street; it was too dark to see the car in the yard next door to their home. “We went right for his car because we didn’t even see her it was way to dark. He was still sitting in the drivers seat when we got to his car he seemed fine, he was talking to us and we just kept telling him not to move and that the ambulance was coming.”

Taylor said that they were asking the man where he was coming from and he just kept saying, “I ain’t coming from nowhere”. “You could tell by the look in his eyes that he was intoxicated and by the way he was talking. Then when the first Police Officer got there and shined his light in the car the man like sat up real straight and we just kept telling him to be still.”

Another neighbor sitting on the porch was with the driver of the Geo until the Paramedics and Firefighters arrived. “I know her, she lives right across the street so I was holding her hand talking to her telling her everything was going to be ok. I was trying to keep her talking to me until the ambulance got here so she wouldn’t pass out. I just held onto her hand for as long as I was allowed, I wanted her to know that I was here.”

Around 1 a.m. a black van with emergency lights arrived on the scene and parked next to an ambulance that had never left the scene. The neighbors all knew then what had happened. Taylor was in shock saying that she had been praying for the woman since the accident occurred. “This is horrible, I pray for her and he little baby.”
