MAN SHOT IN LORAIN

Lorain Police and LifeCare Ambulance Paramedics responded to WestShore Colonial Apartments on West Erie Ave for a male who had been shot.

Herb de la Porte, Vice President of LifeCare Ambulance said they received the call at 7:31 p.m. for a male who had been assaulted. It wasn’t until the first ambulance was responding to the scene that 9-1-1 advised them that the male had been shot.

LifeCare Paramedics transported the male to Community Health Partners Emergency Room. When medics transferred care the victim was still alive but in critical condition said de la Porte.

The Lorain Police Department is investigating the shooting.

UPDATE: The Lorain County Coroner's Office has released the intensity of the shooting victim as 37-year-old Christopher Betts of Columbia Station. Betts was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Community Health Partners Emergency Room.

A suspect is in custody.
