LORAIN FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE BLAZE

FIRE GUTS APARTMENT
Lorain Firefighters battled a blaze in an apartment building on Oberlin Ave Thursday afternoon, a fire that left the tenant and their child looking for a place to stay.

Assistant Fire Chief Randy Hupp of the Lorain Fire Department said that when they rolled up on the scene heavy smoke was showing from multiple windows. “We saw smoke coming from the fire apartment and from another apartment but later we found out that the tenant there left their door open when they left the building so that is why we were seeing the smoke coming from there.”
Chief Hupp said that nobody was home at the time of the fire and that they believe the fire started in a desk area and appears to be electrical in nature. The apartment sustained “significant damage” but the rest of the building is ok.
Lorain Fire Department officials will be connecting the family with the American Red Cross for temporary housing.

I am glad that no one was home at the time of the fire and that the fire was contained to the one apartment. Patsy
