MAN FLEES POLICE

When an Elyria Police Officer attempted to pull a truck over on Middle Ave the driver of the truck was having nothing to do with it, he took off. The Officer stayed in behind the truck down Middle to Butternut Ridge Road when the driver made a left onto Butternut, with no traffic in site the Officer continued attempting to stop the vehicle. The truck started north on Grafton Road heading back into the city of Elyria where they came into traffic so the Officer backed off.

TMC NEWS was able to grab this photo as the truck, traveling north on East Ave, passed at a high rate of speed. The truck turned west onto 7th Street from East Ave striking a utility pole and a half brick wall, this is when the driver jumped from the truck and fled on foot through the yards northbound.

Elaine Faught, a 7th Street resident, heard squealing tires and didn’t think much of it, but when she heard the crash she headed for the front door. “When I got outside the truck had hit the pole down the street and was heading this way with the drivers side door open and nobody behind the wheel. An Officer ran up to the truck but couldn’t get into the truck before it struck a parked car.”
Elyria Police Officers, along with Deputies from Lorain County Sheriff’s Office searched the area but could not find the suspect.
