ELYRIA CELEBRATES THE 4th...

...On The 3rd

Thousands jammed the sledding hill at Cascade Park Tuesday night to celebrate Independence Day in Elyria. Local bands, including Yellow Delicious, entertained the crowd while kids played and parents marked their spots for the big show. Mayor Bill Grace spoke around 9:45 then the boom booms lit up the sky just after 10pm.
The evening was quite peaceful thanks to the strong and professional presence of the Elyria Police Department. Elyria Firefighters watched over the Fireworks Company to insure a safe display while LifeCare Ambulance Paramedics were on hand dealing with several “health related issues” but nothing serious.

did anyone else get hit with little pieces of residue from the fireworks? we were at the bottom of the hill and our clothes are covered with little spots of soot. Quarter sized pieces of cardboard (I think that is what it was) keep hitting us from the sky. We've gone 4 years in a row and have never had that happen before.

Nice work TMC. Loved the pics...especially the ones I was in.
I also got hit with debris. One piece of flameing card board landed in the middle of a family about 10 feet from me. They freaked out a bit but nobody was burned.
And last but not least...I agree about Yellow Delicious. They are a good band but it's a bit much to put one act up there for so long. It isn't fair to make people conform to one kind of music for hours. It would be better to just pump out the classic patriotic tunes, after all it is the third of july :)
