EATON CRASH TRAPS WOMAN

A two-car crash in Eaton Township Friday night around 9:30 sent 6 people to the hospital, one by helicopter from the scene.

Angel Augusta was traveling north on Rt. 83 when the crash occurred. “I believe that the black Ford Ranger, that was going west on 82, ran the right light and hit the van. We saw the van get air born then ended up in the ditch. We saw the man and 3 little kids get out of the black Ranger and one man was able to get out of the van but the woman was pinned inside.”

Eaton Township Firefighters worked for 20 minutes using the Jaws of Life to free the woman who was trapped inside the van. Fire Chief Phil Slack said that the woman’s arm was pinned beneath something making the extrication a bit longer. “We had to raise the van up to be able to get her arm out then we were able to remove her from the van.” Chief Slack said that the occupants from the Ranger, 3 small children and their dad were taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital along with the driver of the van. University MedEvac landed at the scene for the female and transported her to University Hospital in Cleveland. Columbia and Grafton Village Fire Departments assisted Eaton in the rescue and transporting the victims to the hospital.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
