PEOPLE FINDING WAYS...

...To Beat The Heat

With temperatures hitting in the high 90’s today people were finding clever ways of staying cool.

The Kilgore family on Gulf Road had the family over for a picnic in the shade and a slip N slide set up in the yard. Tried as I might I couldn’t get Mrs. Kilgore to demonstrate, she said it was for the kids.

On Ohio Street we found Dick Shupp taking a break from doing yard work, it killed us to wake him up after this photo but we did. Shupp had been doing yard work and getting his back yard entertainment area ready for a relaxing night with the neighbors tonight. Shupp said that he has a pineapple rum concoction that is amazing that he wants to experiment with tonight. “It will be nice to just sit out and relax with the neighbors tonight once the sun goes down and the temps drop. Nothing like sitting with neighbors and friends in the back yard on a summer night.”

And then there is this guy...
Andy Coolidge didn’t care about the heat today as he went for his Sunday afternoon run. Coolidge said that he thought about cutting his normal 70-minute run short because of the heat but said he will probably do the full 70 anyway.

The National Weather Service is calling for temps to be in the 90’s on Monday and Tuesday with a slight chance of rain both days. Continue to be aware of the precautions you need to take if you will be out in the elements. Drink plenty of fluids and take periodic breaks from the direct rays of the sun, you know the drill.

Like good old Sgt. Phil Esterhouse use to say before sending his Officers out of the Hill Street Station; “Let’s Be Careful Out There”

Shupp is awesome. I thought he might have been sleeping cause he had just finished his 70 minute run. That picture is classic. Don W.
