FIRE REKINDLES ON PRATT BLVD

Elyria – Elyria Firefighters had to return to Wilkes Villa late Tuesday night after residents spotted a orange glow over the apartment building that had burned earlier in the day.

When Firefighters arrived they found fire shooting from the roof and the area covered with smoke.

Firefighters used attack lines a deck gun and then raised Tower 8 to douse the flames.

Elyria Police Officers on scene spoke with neighbors and learned that one of the residents, who was displaced earlier, had left their pet Ferrets in an upstairs bedroom. The apartment was not affected by the earlier blaze so the resident felt comfortable leaving their Ferrets there overnight while they were put up by the Red Cross.
The Officers notified Firefighters who then entered the apartment to locate the pets. Moments later two Firefighters exited the apartment carrying a cage containing the two Ferrets. The Ferrets were fine and were turned over to friends of the occupants.

No injuries were reported.
