TEEN KILLED WHILE CROSSING ROUTE 57
Elyria – A North Ridgeville teen was killed Saturday afternoon as he attempted to cross Route 57 and was struck by a minivan.
Elyria Police are investigating the crash that took place around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Lt. Phil Hammonds of the Elyria Police Department said very little about the details surrounding the crash as the investigation was still in the early stages.
Hammonds did say that the victim, who has been identified by the Lorain County Coroner as Alex Sismour of North Ridgeville, was attempting to cross Route 57 at East Broad Street. Hammonds said Sismour was crossing east to west when he was struck by the van that was traveling northbound on Route 57. Hammonds also said the driver of the minivan is cooperating fully with the Police investigation.
Hammonds said a more detailed press release will likely be issued Monday by the Elyria Police Department.
