FIRE HITS MIDDLE AVE HOME

Elyria – A fire that swept through the second floor of a home at 1001 Middle Ave Thursday night sent one occupant out a window to safety.


Elyria Firefighters were called to the home just before 8 p.m. Thursday and found fire shooting from the second floor windows. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in a short amount of time however remained on scene for hours performing overhaul and checking for hot spots.


One occupant was treated by LifeCare Paramedics for minor injuries and transported to Elyria Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.


Elyria Police contacted the Lorain County Chapter of the American Red Cross around midnight to help find temporary housing for the family.


The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
