FATHER OF MAYOR DIES WHILE HELPING ANOTHER

Sheffield Lake – The father of Sheffield Lake Mayor John Piskura died Sunday afternoon while he attempted to help another man.


Authorities say John “Jack” Piskura, 70 of Sheffield Lake, was helping a man with his jet ski in Lake Erie Sunday afternoon when he had a heart attack. Sheffield Lake Firefighters, assisted by Firefighters from Avon Lake and Sheffield Village arrived and began treating Piskura on the beach.


Firefighters had to use a rope system to get Piskura and the other man off the beach. Piskura was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain where he later died.
