MAN FLOWN AFTER I-90 CRASH

Story & Photos by BRIAN WOODS
Avon – A 40 year old Avon man was flown to Cleveland Metro after he slammed into the rear of a disabled car on I-90 in Avon Tuesday afternoon.

As Firefighters were responding to the crash they put Metro LifeFlight on standby after hearing it was possibly a head-on collision. When they arrived they found that a Ford Ranger had plowed into the back of a Ford Escort. After an initial exam of the driver of the Ranger they requested LifeFlight meet them at the Avon Emergency Care Center.

The driver, Scott Gibson, was treated on scene by Avon Firefighters and then transported to Avon ECC before being turned over to a Metro LifeFlight Medical Team.

The owner of the Escort, 53 year old Michael Veninshek of Sheffield Lake, had pulled over to the side of the road after his car broke down. Veninshek had already begun walking away from his car before the crash.

The Avon Police Department is investigating the crash but believe Gibson had experienced a medical incident prior to the crash causing him to lose control and go off the right side of the road.
