FATAL CRASH ON 57 IN GRAFTON

Grafton Township – Just steps from the Grafton Township Fire Department one person was killed in a two vehicle collision.

Lieutenant Travis Hughes of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that a passenger car was at the stop sign on Route 303 at Route 57. “They attempted to make a left hand turn onto northbound state route 57 when it was struck by the southbound commercial vehicle. There was only one occupant in the passenger car and he is deceased and we are withholding his name until family notification.”

The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured in the crash and Hughes said Troopers were interviewing him at the scene.

The intersection has been blocked since the crash while Troopers conduct their investigation and while they wait on the Lorain County Coroner to arrive to conduct his investigation as well.

Once the names have been released we will post them to this story.

UPDATE: The roadway was reopened at 3:30 p.m.

Something needs to be done about this intersection. It is very difficult to turn left going northbound onto route 83 from 303. Your vehicle has to be almost be into the southbound traffic in order to see because of the rail road bridge . If you are not from around this area, you are not aware on how dangerous it is. There have been many fatal accidents at this intersection. very sad. peace be with the family of this person.
