“I can make it, I can make it……
Elyria – Eli Ramos from Michigan thought his truck was low enough to sneak under a power line that crossed over Chestnut Street – Ramos soon discovered that he was mistaken.
Ramos pulled a power line down in the 100 block of Chestnut Thursday afternoon as he was traveling south towards 2nd Street. Elyria Fire Investigators just happened to be inside of 120 Chestnut sifting through the rubble of the recent fire when they heard the lines pop. Firefighters ran to Ramos’ rig and instructed him to stay inside his cab concerned that the line might have charged the truck.
After checking with a “hot stick” Firefighters discovered that the line was still hot and had Ramos remain in the cab until Ohio Edison arrived on scene and cut the power.
Police were called to the scene to write a report but Ramos was not charged.
