AMHERST MAN KILLED IN CRASH

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating the crash at Middle Ridge and Oberlin Road early Thursday morning have released the names of the victims this afternoon.

Troopers say that 60 year old George Thompson of Amherst was killed after 55 year old Rebecca Stottlemire of Lorain slammed into him head on around 7:40 a.m.

Stottlemire was traveling south on Middle Ridge Road in her Jeep Cherokee when she lost control and went left of center and struck Thompson’s 2003 Impala head on. The Cherokee then struck a utility pole cutting it in half.

Stottlemire was transported to Amherst Hospital Emergency Room and then flown a short time later to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.
