GROUP TURNS IN MORE NAMES

RECALL GROUP NEEDED 413 NAMES
SUBMITS 902 NAMES TODAY

Elyria – Members of Stand Up Elyria, the group working to recall Elyria Mayor Bill Grace, returned to Elyria City Hall Monday afternoon and submitted new petitions with 902 names.

The group turned in their first petition on Tuesday October 13th but was told by the County Board of Elections that they were short by 413 valid names. Craig Bevan, co-chairman of Stand Up Elyria, said that he is confident with the new list. “We had the disc from the Board of Elections and checked names from our petitions to make sure they were valid. We had extra people out on the streets going door to door collecting signatures and were very careful with how people signed to make sure they would not be thrown out this time.”

Carol Billman, Secretary of Council, accepted and time stamped the petitions from the recall group. Once time stamped the petitions were taken to Elyria Auditor Ted Pileski who counted the number of petitions and names. Pileski’s official count was 902 names.

Art Weber, Clerk of Council, then made copies of the petitions for the recall group.

The petitions will now go to the Lorain County Board of Elections to be validated. The group only needs 413 names to be valid to be successful.
