STOLEN CAR TAKES DOWN POLE
Elyria – The first of the new light poles along Route 57 fell Saturday morning around 4 a.m. after a stole car crashed into it and brought it down.
The car was stolen from the Circle K on East Broad and Kipling after the owner ran inside the store, leaving the keys inside and the engine running. Moments later the owner saw the car leaving the area and called the Police.

A short time later Police received calls of a 3 car crash on Route 57 in the area of the Wal-Mart store. When Police arrived they found the pole down and the stolen car with heavy damage to the driver’s side. The driver had already fled the scene.
The pole landed, virtually intact, in the center of the median.
