AMHERST CRASH KILLS ONE
Amherst Township – An early morning two-car crash has left one dead and another in critical condition.
Amherst Firefighters responded to the area of Middle Ridge Road and Oberlin Road around 7:40 this morning after receiving reports of the crash. When Firefighters arrived they found the two cars with heavy damage and two people trapped.
One utility pole had been cut in half and brought down by the crash.
LifeCare Paramedics were able to determine that one of the victims had already died at the scene one Firefighters were able to cut the car open so they could get close to the victim.
Firefighters worked for about 20 minutes to extricate another victim who was transported to Amherst Community Hospital. Metro LifeFlight was initially requested to land at the scene but Firefighters were able to extricate the victim quickly so the helicopter was diverted to land at Amherst Community Hospital.
