ELYRIA COMES IN AT NUMBER 6

Appearing on today’s Forbes.com is a list of America’s Top Toxic Cities. In the list of 40 Metro areas we find our own City of Elyria at number 6 along with Cleveland and Mentor. The list is based on Poor air quality, lack of clean water and a high rate of superfund sites.

The list shows the Cleveland, Elyria, Mentor, Ohio Metro Area to have 299 facilities releasing toxic chemicals and 24,475,620 pounds of chemicals being released into the area.

Topping the list is Atlanta, Georgia with 277 facilities and 41,502,855 pounds of toxic chemicals being released.

Right at the bottom of the list is Sin City – Las Vegas, Nevada with only 50 facilities and 2,075,237 pounds of toxic chemicals being released into the area.

For you Texas fans, the Austin Metro area comes in at #37 with 660,611 pounds of toxic chemicals being released from 44 facilities. Hook ‘em Horns!
