DUPLEX FIRE IN ELYRIA

Elyria – A late night fire in an Elyria duplex cause approximately $7,000.00 in damages.

Elyria Firefighters responded to 610 Lake Ave for a reported fire in the upstairs portion of the duplex. The fire was contained to a small area of a bedroom and Fire Officials believe that careless smoking was the cause. The fire started in a pile of clothes lying on the floor and caused damage to carpeting and some furniture.

Smoke blew from the windows as Firefighters ventilated the home after extinguishing the blaze within about 10 minutes.

The couple living in the residence was allowed to return after Firefighters cleared the scene.
