BUS CRASHES INTO PICK UP TRUCK

NO STUDENTS ON BOARD
Elyria – When a 9-1-1 call comes in reporting a traffic crash involving a school bus at 3 in the afternoon – the adrenaline in rescue workers increase.

Police, Firefighters and Paramedics all took a sigh of relief as they arrived on scene and found the bus with no children on board.

Melissa Kuzela had just picked up one of her children and was on her way to get another when she witnessed the crash. “I was driving south on Lake heading towards 113 – I saw the bus go by me then in the rear view mirror I saw the bus hit the pick up truck and push it.”

Officials say that the bus driver lost control of the bus when bolts broke free from the front suspension sending it across the yellow line and into the truck. You can see the bolts strewn across the roadway and where they broke off in our PHOTO GALLERY.

Firefighters and Paramedics treated the bus driver, who appeared to be more shaken up then injured, and transported her to Elyria Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the pick up truck refused treatment or transport from Paramedics but said later that he would seek treatment on his own.

The Elyria Police Department is investigating the crash.
