GIRL ON BIKE STRUCK BY CAR

Sheffield Township – A blind spot may have been the cause of a car striking a teenage girl on a bike early Saturday afternoon.

Trooper Joran Cottom of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that a 14-year-old girl was crossing North Ridge Road (Rt. 254) in Sheffield Township when she was struck. “The girl was crossing from the south to the north when she failed to yield to a car in the left lane going east.”

Trooper Cottom said the car struck the bike T-bone style and the girl went up on the car and hit the windshield.

Sheffield Township Firefighters treated the girl on scene and transported her to Community Health Partners in Lorain. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Troopers say that a food delivery truck that was also traveling east on North Ridge Road may have blocked the view car for the girl. The driver will not be cited for the crash.
