TWO ATTEMPTS TO LURE BOYS

Wellington – Wellington Police are searching for a white male in their city after two young children reported that he attempted to abduct them.

The first incident took place on Monday June 23rd on Barker Street in Wellington when an 11 year old boy was approached by a white male who asked the boy if he had lost his dog – the boy replied no. The man then said “get in and we’ll go get it”. The boy yelled no and ran back in the house. The boy described the van as a white work type van with a ladder rack on the top. He said it had no markings on it and that there was one ladder on the roof.

The Officer who was called by the boy’s mother later said he had seen a small pincher running in the area a short time before the complaint.

On Monday June 30th two young boys reported to Police that while at the intersection of Dickson and Courtland they were approached by a white male driving a white van. The boys said the driver asked; “do you want to go for ice cream and I’ll bring you right back.” The boys told the man no and started walking towards home. The boys described the van as full sized, all white with a silver ladder and a red ladder on the top. They also said the van had three long and narrow windows on the passenger side. The boys said that the man spoke to them through the passenger side window, which he only rolled down a couple inches so they could not describe his face.

Approximately20 minutes had elapsed from the time of the incident to the time the call was made to the Police Department.

A thorough search by Officer’s from Wellington and other surrounding communities have not turned up the van. Police are looking for your help in this case. If you have any information you are asked to call the Wellington Police Department at 440.647.2244.

Police also encourage kids and parents to IMMEDIATELY notify the Police if something like this happens. Any time lapse allows the suspect to flee the area.

Is there a sketch of the suspect or vehicle so the public can be aware of this person and report any sightings to the proper authorities?
