STUBBORN FIRE SCENE

Elyria – Onlookers and brick thieves (I mean souvenir searchers) called Elyria Firefighters back to General Industries Saturday evening when they spotted smoke billowing from the northeast corner of the scene. After an inspection of the scene it was decided to have the aerial return.

Ladder 7 did return to the scene later that night to shoot water on the hot spots.

Note to brick enthusiasts: Carrying the bricks away in a plastic bag from Apples is not going to work.

LOL. Come on, doesn't everyone want a souvenir from the day the city of Elyria almost burned down??? And what better way to collect them than with plastic bags from the local grocer! Some day, these will be the good ol' days, and people will want to show their uninterested grandkids the evidence.

You don’t know how close to the truth that is when you say the night City of Elyria almost burned down, the hot embers were floating all over that area and if it was raining on and off there might have been more fires.

Oh agreed. Definitely. I couldn't believe the large debris my mother had on the roof of her house...... which is North of the Turnpike. In fact, driving to work via the Pike that morning, it looked as if the city was covered in fog. But driving through the fog, you could smell that it was actually smoke from the fire. Very creepy.
