A REAR ENDER IN EATON TOWNSHIP
FOUR TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
Eaton Township Firefighters responded Sunday night to a two-car crash on Route 82 just west of Route 83.
Firefighters and Paramedics were treating four victims at the scene while a steady rain fell on them. At times you could see Firefighters holding blankets over the heads of the victims as they were being extricated from the vehicles.
Chief Phil Slack of the Eaton Township Fire Department said that none of the victims appeared to have any real serious injuries. “We are treating the driver of the one car and all three occupants of this Ford Escort. We didn’t have to use any extrication tools, but the one male victim who was in the back seat was in such a position that it was difficult to maneuver him out safely.”
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that Patricia McClain, 56 of Columbia Station, struck Charlotte Whitt, 54 of Grafton, in front of the Circle K on Route 82. McClain’s car ended up coming to rest on the south burm of 82 while Whitt’s ended up in the parking lot of Circle K. Whitt’s two passengers were both from Grafton.
McClain was cited for Assured Clear Distance Ahead.

A co-worker and I saw the accident and immediatly he called 911 and I ran to the cars to make sure that people werent trying to move and that they were ok. We directed traffic in the pouring rain until help arrived; it was human nature to help. The one lady who was alone in her car kept going in and out of it but my co-worker kept talking to her to keep her awake until the squad came. Neither of the cars were in the parking lot of Circle K. The car that got hit was stopped, trying to turn into the store when it got hit. That car then turned sideways facing the parking lot.
Just thought I would clear things up.
