FED UP WITH THE THREATS

Elyria High School students were released early Wednesday afternoon after the school received yet another threat, the second in one day. Police were able to trace the call to a payphone at the southwest corner of Grafton Road & Fuller.

With the inordinate amount of bomb threats being made in Lorain County this school season, students, parents, faculty and Officials are fed up. Shawn Silvis, a junior at Elyria High School said that it has become very annoying. “Being evacuated this many times is annoying and is starting to affect my studies.”

A parent of a 5th grader at South Amherst Middle School said she was happy to hear the news about a suspect being arrested in connection with the threats made on their Middle School. “I am happy but also upset that one of our own kids could do something like this.” She also wishes that something could be done in the future to better notify parents when something like this happens. “We have been told to listen to the local AM radio station or look on the internet for notifications, I can’t get the AM radio station in my house and I don’t sit at the computer all day.”

Kimberly from Elyria wanted to express her concerns about the recent rash of threats as well. “I am currently a student teacher in 2nd grade in Lorain County and I’m outraged at how many bomb threats were received in one day! It is completely ridiculous that a person would want to make a bomb threat. It causes so much panic to all the students, teachers, staff, and the community. There is already so much stress in life, that these students are not realizing the complete damage as to what they are doing the school system and the community. There is no logical reason as to why you should ever cause a community and schools to worry about protecting their lives.”
