DEFENSE SECRETARY STEPS DOWN

BREAKING NEWS
President Bush is expected to announce in just a few moments that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has stepped down.

UPDATE 1:45pm

After a series of thoughtful conversations, Secretary Rumsfeld and I agreed that the time is right for new leadership at the Pentagon. Don Rumsfeld has been a superb leader during a time of change, yet he also appreciates the value of bringing in a fresh perspective during a critical period of this war. Don Rumsfeld is a patriot and served our country with honor and distinction. He is a trusted advisor and friend and I am deeply grateful for his service to our country. President George W. Bush

President Bush then named Bob Gates as the replacement for Secretary Rumsfeld. Gates is the former Director of the CIA and current President of Texas A&M University. Gates has served 6 presidents from both political parties and rose from an entry level employee at the CIA to become the Director Central Intelligence

I certainly hope he was in the military at some time. In any event, he may have said, that's it folks, I'm outa here.

I am out of control posting. I need to slow down. I ment I hope Gates did military time. Rumsfeld said the last part.
