Elyria – Two Elyria Police Officers escaped injury early Saturday morning when an intoxicated woman struck their patrol car.

The Officers were on Patrol traveling north on South Abbe road when the woman who was traveling south went left of center and struck the patrol car. After striking the Officers the woman continued to drive southbound away from the crash. Officers turned around and got the woman to pull over just south of Clark Street.

One of the Officers approached the car as the woman was getting out without putting the car in park. The Officer had to jump in the car to put it in park.

The woman was questioned at the scene and then arrested for OVI. The woman’s blood alcohol level was more than 2 times the legal limit. The driver was also not injured in the crash that occurred just before 5:30 a.m.
