BLAZE GUTS SHEFFIELD LAKE HOME

Sheffield Lake – A Sheffield Lake home was gutted by a fire Saturday afternoon on Elmwood Drive. The homeowner Steve Geneva was also injured trying to escape the blaze and one of his two dogs died in the fire.

Sheffield Lake Firefighters responded to 4890 Elmwood Drive Saturday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a house fire. Smoke and flames were pouring from the back of the home when Firefighters arrived.

Mutual aid was provided by Sheffield Village, Avon Lake, Avon and Lorain Fire Departments.

Fire officials are investigating to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed the home.
