Story & Photos by BRIAN WOODS
North Ridgeville – A late night fire Tuesday struck a North Ridgeville home on Sugar Ridge Road near Route 83.

Lieutenant Rick Knowlton of the North Ridgeville Fire Department said the call came in at 11:03 p.m. after the homeowner found the back portion of his home on fire. “When we arrived the entire back of the home was on fire with flames shooting about 15 feet above the roof.”

Firefighters from North Ridgeville, Olmsted Township and Elyria battled the blaze that Knowlton said extended up into the ceiling area of the single story home.

Knowlton said after the fire was extinguished that now the investigation begins into discovering the cause of the blaze. “It appears to have started near the pot belly stove but we will do a full investigation into this fire to determine cause and damage estimates.

There were no injuries reported during this fire.
