The cause of the early morning fire is still unknown but the damage estimate is in excess of 1 million dollars. The train was stopped at the Elyria Amtrak Station on East River.

The passengers aboard the train suffered a 5 hour delay because of the fire but were back on their way to the Big Apple just after 10 a.m.
