MAN JUMPS FROM BURNING APARTMENT

Elyria – An Elyria man found himself in a position where he had to jump from a second story bedroom window to escape his apartment that was on fire.

Elyria Firefighters were first called by a cab company who reported seeing smoke coming from Wilkes Villa and crossing Fuller Road. Just moments later a second caller reported a kitchen fire on Bohannon Court.

LifeCare Paramedics arrived on scene first and had to move people away from the apartment building to a safer area. A car and an ambulance were used as shelter for the residents while Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

Shortly after Firefighters broke through the front door of the apartment they were able to get the blaze under control and extinguished.

The sole resident in the apartment refused treatment from Paramedics but a neighbor took a tumble after the fire was out and injured their back.

The extent of the damage was unknown at the time of this posting.
