GIRL SPRAYS LYSOL IN SCHOOL

STUDENTS RUSHED TO AREA HOSPITALS

Call Time: 11:30 a.m. Friday April 3, 2009
Lorain – A total of five students from the Lorain Preparatory Academy had to be rushed by ambulances to two area hospitals Friday afternoon after a fellow student sprayed Lysol in their eyes.

LifeCare Ambulance treated seven students at the school that sits in the 3800 block of Leavitt Road on the PC Campana complex. Two of the seven-refused transport to the hospital, while three were taken to Amherst Hospital and the two most serious were taken to Community Health Partners Emergency Room. It is believed that only two of the victims were actually sprayed in the face with the Lysol – the other victims were just suffering from the fumes.

Officials say the girl began spraying the Lysol after complaining about a bad odor in the room.

Lorain Firefighters were on hand to check the air quality of the classrooms and deemed the building to be safe for the students and faculty.

School officials say an investigation is underway to determine what exactly happened and if any disciplinary action needs to be taken.
