GIRL STABS BOYFRIEND DURING FIGHT

THROWS KNIFE INTO BLACK RIVER

Call Time: 3:30 a.m. Thursday April 2, 2009
Elyria – Heather Putnoky and her boyfriend Dustin Moyer were enjoying a quiet evening in an East Ave backyard next to a small campfire late Wednesday night. The quiet evening turned violent after both consumed several beers.

Putnoky, 21 years old from Elyria, told Police that after about 4 or 5 beers they couple began to argue in the back yard. The arguing continued as the two went back inside of the home and into their bedroom. Putnoky told Police that Moyer “is abusive” after drinking and he began pushing her several times.

Putnoky pulled a small pocket knife from her pants pocket and threatened to stab him if he continued – Moyer said, “Go Ahead.” Putnoky then lunged forward and stabbed him in the chest. Putnoky told Police that she was aiming for his shoulder so he would stop pushing her.

After stabbing her boyfriend Putnoky called 9-1-1 and advised the Dispatcher that she had just stabbed her boyfriend. Knowing that Police were on the way, Putnoky went out into the back yard and tossed the knife into the Black River. She later told Police she did that she ditched the knife knowing that it would have been used as evidence.

When Police first arrived Putnoky directed them to a back bedroom to find Moyer. Police say that they found Moyer crying and in serious pain. Moyer was holding a blood covered shirt over his left chest area. Moyer told Police that his girlfriend, Heather, had stabbed him.

Paramedics from LifeCare Ambulance treated Moyer on scene and then transported him to Elyria Memorial Hospital. Moyer was later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Putnoky took Police to the riverbank where she tossed the knife – due to the deepness of the water Police were unable to locate the knife.

Police took photographs of Moyers injuries along with drug paraphernalia, two marijuana pipes on a coffee table and an open-faced shelf containing numerous marijuana pipes – all located in a rear bedroom.

During a taped interview, Putnoky confessed to the stabbing claiming self defense. Putnoky also admitted to destroying the knife because she knew it would be used as evidence.

Putnoky was charged with Felonious Assault and Tampering with Evidence.

Police also arrested 51 year old Steven Parker on a misdemeanor warrant through North Ridgeville. Parker and his son were both sleeping inside of the home at the time of the stabbing.

Moyer also has an outstanding bench warrant through the Elyria Police Department and may be arrested when he is released from the hospital.

During the interview with Police, Putnoky said she never considered calling 9-1-1 before she stabbed Moyer saying she didn’t believe the Police could help her. She also said she never considered running from the home or asking the roommates for help.
