CRASH ON 301 IN LAGRANGE

LaGrange Fire & EMS responded this morning to Rt. 301 & Webster Road for a single car crash. LaGrange Fire Chief Rader said a female was driving south on Rt. 301, crossed the northbound lane and went into a yard striking a tree and a mailbox then rolling over landing on the roof trapping the female inside the car. Firefighters had to remove the passenger side door to extricate the woman from the vehicle for their Paramedics to treat her. Metro Life Flight landed a shot time later and flew the woman to Cleveland Metro Health Medical Center.

Tom Johnson, who lives on Webster Road and was turning onto Rt. 301 at the time of the crash, said that he saw the car air born before landing on its roof. Johnson immediately contacted 9-1-1 and stayed in contact with them until he got up to the car accessing that there was one person in the vehicle and that she was conscious. Johnson, an Elyria Fireman, said he talked to the woman until LaGrange Fire & EMS arrived. “I did not touch the vehicle or try to open the doors, that is about the worse thing you can do without the proper tools and man power. You can cause further injury to the victim or yourself. All of the Officers and Firefighters acted very professionally and did an excellent job with the victim.”

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
