BRIEF CHASE ENDS IN CRASH
Elyria Township – A brief chase through Elyria Township early Tuesday morning ended with the suspect crashing into a pole at Lake Ave and Griswold Road.
The suspect flew by a Lorain County Deputy on Lake Ave at speeds near 90 MPH. An attempt to stop the suspect failed and other Departments, including Elyria and the State Patrol, began responding to the area to assist the Deputy. When the suspect tried to make a turn onto Griswold from Lake Ave he slide into a utility pole and disabled his car. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Elyria Township Firefighters were called to the scene to evaluate the suspect but he refused any treatment or transport.
While at the scene the suspect just kept repeating, “that was so stupid of me.”
The man was charged with the speed and fleeing and the Sheriff’s Department is investigating if there was another reason the man fled.
