WOMAN SHOT ON 7th STREET

Elyria – Police found a woman that had been shot in the leg after receiving multiple calls of shots fired on 7th Street just after midnight Monday morning.

Police responded to the 200 block after residents called reporting shots fired in the area. As an Officer arrived on 7th Street he observed a person run into a home at 232 7th Street. The same man, later identified as Dexter Jordan then exited the house and advised that his “girl “had been shot.

Officers then entered the home and found a female who was later identified as Erica Armstrong, on the loveseat in the living room. Armstrong was bleeding from the upper thigh area of the right leg. Officers quickly requested an ambulance to the scene.

LifeCare Paramedics responded and treated Armstrong at the scene and then transported her to Elyria Memorial Hospital.

At the scene, a spent .45 shell casing was located on the ground right next to the loveseat. Police also report finding a toy set of handcuffs in the immediate area. Officers also collected a digital scale, a ½ full gallon freezer bag of marijuana from a second floor bedroom, and an open box of gallon zip lock freezer bags.

The Elyria Police Department Detective Bureau is currently the shooting.
