Henrietta Township – State Troopers are investigating a roll over crash that occurred late Monday night on Vermilion Road.

Trooper Shawn Kline of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that the woman was traveling south on Vermilion Road, just south of Garfield Road, when she lost control of her Equinox LT SUV and went off the left side of the road. The car rolled over and ended up resting on its roof.

Firefighters from the Florence Township Fire Department found the woman trapped inside of the upside down SUV when they arrived on scene. Firefighters worked to extricate the woman while Paramedics from Central Lorain County Ambulance District began treating the woman.

Once freed the woman was loaded into an awaiting Metro LifeFlight helicopter that had landed in the field next to the crash. She was then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland with serious injuries.

Troopers say that the woman was returning home from a Girl Scout meeting at the time of the crash. It is still unclear as to why the woman lost control and left the roadway. Troopers say that they do not believe that alcohol or speed played a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
