MAN GOES OFF ROAD – ROLLS CAR

Elyria Township – One man was injured late Tuesday night after rolling his car on Route 2 near Middle Ridge Road.

Witnesses say that the man was traveling west on Route 2 when he went off the left side of the road and into the median. The car crossed over the median and for a moment was in the eastbound lane before going back into the median. It was then that the driver rolled his car before landing back on his wheels.

Witnesses say when they first approached the car the driver was not responsive and slumped over the wheel. They quickly called 9-1-1 then waited for help to arrive.

When Firefighters from Elyria Township arrived on scene the man was conscious and kinda speaking to them.

Firefighters had to pull and break the driver’s side door to safely remove the driver from the car. Once out he was carried up the hill to the ambulance. Paramedics treated the man on the scene then transported him to Elyria Memorial Hospital.

Before Firefighters arrived the driver told the people that had stopped to help him that he was heading home after spending the night at the House of Blues in Cleveland.

Troopers are still investigating the crash but say they believe that alcohol is likely to have played a role in the crash.

UPDATE:
Troopers have cited the driver in this crash, 27-year-old Evan Bovi of Amherst, with OVI.
