MAN ARRESTED BREAKING INTO HOME
Elyria – Elyria Police arrested an Oberlin man after he was spotted breaking into a Washington Ave home early Saturday morning.
An alert neighbor spotted the man kicking in a basement window just before 9 a.m. and called Police. As Officers began arriving they surrounded the home – A Police Dispatcher informed Officers that the man had made entry into the home through the basement window.
Officer Varga parked his car on the corner of Harrison St. and Washington Ave and approached the south side of the residence on foot. Officer Kerecz continued in his car north on Washington Ave and observed a red bag being tossed out of the north side basement window of 401 Washington Ave. Officer Kerecz then observed a white male exit the same north side basement window headfirst.
Officer Kerecz notified Officer Varga that the male was exiting the window and turned east towards the residence’s unattached garage. Officer Kerecz pulled into the driveway of 401 Washington Ave and advised the male subject began to run east. When the suspect saw the Officers coming at him he stopped and Officers then took him into custody.
Officers later identified the suspect as Timothy D. Wilson. Officers checked the red “Marlboro” duffle bag for any items from inside the home. Officers did not locate any items inside the duffle bag. Officers could hear an audible alarm coming from inside 401 Washington Ave.
While waiting for the homeowner to arrive Wilson asked Officers “what’s going on” – Wilson stated, “I didn’t do anything”. Officers asked Wilson if anyone else is inside the house. Wilson stated, “Jason is still inside”. Wilson advised that he was outside the whole time and again stated; “Jason” broke the window and was possibly still inside.
