FEMALE SHOT AT RED FOX BAR

Police say that they attempted to interview patrons and other people in the area to try to get a description of the shooter but “all persons were uncooperative and advised they knew nothing and saw nothing.”
Elyria – A 25 year old Elyria woman was shot in the leg at the Red Fox Bar at 571 Broad Street in Elyria early Sunday morning.

Police received the call of a shooting inside the bar at 1:48 a.m. Sunday. When Officers arrived they saw a large crowd of people running out of the bar onto Broad Street. As Officers entered the bar they asked the bartender what had happened – who was shot and where. The bartender advised that she didn’t know anything about a shooting.

An unknown patron told Officers that a female was shot in the bar and was now outside in the back parking lot. As Officers went through the bar they observed large amounts of blood on the floor and on the wall in the back of the bar by the rear exit & DJ booth.

Officers found the victim, 25 year old Teresa Phillips, leaning against a vehicle behind the bar. Phillips was bleeding profusely from her left thigh, just above her knee. Officers observed an entrance wound on the front of her leg and an exit wound on the back of her leg.

Phillips told Officers that she did not know the person who shot her. She said that two black males were fighting inside of the bar when one pulled a gun and tried to shoot the other and she was hit in the cross fire.

LifeCare Paramedics treated Phillips in the parking lot and then transported her to Elyria Memorial Hospital where she was later LifeFlighted to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Police say that they attempted to interview patrons and other people in the area to try to get a description of the shooter but “all persons were uncooperative and advised they knew nothing and saw nothing.”

Police also questioned the staff of the Red Fox Bar, they also told Officers that they “saw nothing and heard nothing.”

An Officer that responded to EMH and made contact with Paramedics from LifeCare. The Paramedics stated that Phillips told them that another female in the bar was the one that shot her in the leg.

The Officer then spoke with Phillips, who was having a hard time speaking because she was in and out of consciousness, she advised again that two black did the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Elyria Police Department.
