WOMAN SLAMS LAWN CARE TRUCK
Elyria Township – A woman traveling north on Lake Ave in Elyria Township Tuesday afternoon struck a parked lawn care truck causing heavy front-end damage to the woman’s car.
Elyria Township Firefighters responded to the 6100 block of Lake Ave just after noon and although they treated the driver on scene she refused transport to the emergency room.
The driver of the TruGreen Lawn Care truck was working in a back yard at the time of the crash.
Troopers investigating the crash questioned the legality of the lawn care truck being parked on the side of the roadway. A supervisor who showed up at the scene told the Trooper that company policy was that when parked on the road the employee is to have traffic cones placed behind the truck and the four-ways flashing. When pressed by the Trooper who said that only vehicles that are broken down are allowed to be on the side of the road like that and questioned why the truck was not parked in the driveway – that was empty at the time – was not used, the supervisor said he did not want to make any additional statements.
Troopers cited the woman for Assured Clear Distance and said that they will consult with the City of Elyria Prosecutors office about the lawn care truck and if they should be cited as well.
